Royal Philips, a strong diversified industrial group, leading in health and well-being, has developed a new shaving system for black African men to help address their shaving problems.
The new Philips Care Touch Shaver, which was developed with the specific needs of African men in mind, as their skin is prone to ingrown hairs and bumps, does not have retraction and cuts above the skin level and prevents hair from growing under the skin.
The Managing Director of Royal Philips, Africa, Mr Abdallah Hussein Khamis, who disclosed this in Accra, said this was in line with Philips innovations designed to address the growing lifestyle needs of consumers.
He said Philips, which localised its products for the African consumer, had also developed a revolutionary, smokeless woodstove that was fuelled by wood, dung, or other biomass.
Mr Khamis noted that Philips, which has operated in Ghana for over 60 years, was also expanding its presence and increasing its footprint in Ghana.
He said Ghana was the hub for Philips West Africa operations and Philips was working closely with the government and had ongoing collaborations and partnerships with a number of institutions.
Philips was also delivering technology and training, and was committed to the millennium development goals (MDGs) four and five.
