MTN launches 2017 IFEST in Kumasi

MTN has launched the 2017 Ifest with the aimed at whipping up interest in internet usage by the public.

The month long ‘ifest’ programme is also to help educate people on the numerous advantages of internet connectivity and the need to use internet to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Speaking at the Kumasi launch, the Channel Development Manager for Northern Ghana, Mr Stephen Asare, said gone were the days where people used the internet for just sending and receiving emails.

He said now, a lot could be done by just a click of a button and urged businesses to embrace technology to improve on their productivity.

As part of this year’s programme, he said the company would be embarking on a community outreach programme to educate people.

He said although all the district capitals in Ashanti region have 4G sites, the number of people on 4G network were comparatively fewer than those in Greater Accra.

He said the outreach programme was primarily to get people to switch to 4G network which he said was about 10 times faster than the other networks.

He said through the ifest which has is celebrated every year in September, the company has been able to improve on its data subscription.
