MainOne unveils colocation service

MainOne, a data solutions provider, has launched a new co-location service to address the needs of businesses seeking to reduce Information Technology (IT) infrastructure costs and improve efficiency through a shared service platform.

The new co-location product offers sub and full rack services and enables businesses with less than a full rack to benefit from IT infrastructure, including servers and other equipment at MainOne’s Data Center facility with guaranteed power, cooling, security, connectivity and fire – prevention.

“MainOne continues to recognise the challenges businesses face with setting up IT infrastructure in-house, which is not only costly, but fraught with operational challenges, thus, affecting their ability to focus on their core competencies,” the General Manager in charge at MainOne Ghana, Mr Angelo Govina, said in a press release issued on yesterday in Accra.

According to him, MainOne is able to eliminate those challenges through its shared Data Center model, which optimised cost and improved performance by enabling enterprises, including start-up companies subscribe to colocation services as low as two sub-rack units (2U), with half and full rack options available to address larger requirements.

“Our new sub-rack colocation offering is perfect for businesses who run critical applications and business processes from small infrastructure footprints. Unlike standard half and full-rack colocation services, sub-rack colocation is delivered to 2U, 4U, 8U and 10U footprints.

Key benefits of these Data Center solutions include reduced CAPEX and OPEX costs, enhanced access to the Internet through a multiplicity of telecom operators in the collocation facility, ability to scale as required, carrier-grade security and technical expertise from the team. “This new offering assures data center customers of greater operational efficiency and profitability, as they no longer have to worry about the challenges and overhead costs of managing IT infrastructure,” he said.

New office

Unveiling the company’s new office in Accra, Mr Govina said the company recognised the need to operate from a location that was centrally located, while guaranteeing a modern and productive workspace for staff.

He added that MainOne would continue to develop innovative products and services that enabled small, medium and large organisations to effectively scale their businesses and enhance the overall socio-economic advancement of Ghana and the West Africa region as a whole. — GB
