Bank of Africa donates water tanks to Police Training School

Bank of Africa (BOA) has donated four water tanks to the National Police Training School (NPTS) to support water storage and improve living conditions for police recruits undergoing training at the institution.

The donation formed part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at supporting young people and public institutions.

Presenting the items, the Managing Director of Bank of Africa, Abderrahmane Belbachir, said the bank was committed to supporting the development of young people, including recruits beginning their careers in the Ghana Police Service.

He explained that the donation was intended to help address some of the immediate needs of trainees at the school while strengthening the partnership between the bank and the police service.

“It is part of our corporate social responsibility to support women and young people, and that is why we are very happy to partner the police to make this donation,” he said.

Financial services

Mr Belbachir added that beyond the donation, the bank was exploring ways of providing financial services to the recruits, including the opening of bank accounts and access to credit facilities when needed.

He stated that his outfit remained committed to supporting salaried workers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and would continue to identify opportunities to contribute to the growth and professional development of young people.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the school, the Commanding Officer of the National Police Training School, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mike Baah, expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the bank for the gesture.

He said the polytanks would help improve water supply at the training school and benefit both recruits and the wider school community.

“I want to assure the bank that the polytanks will be put to good use. I believe they are going to enhance the water supply at the training school for our recruits and the entire community,” ACP Baah stated.

While commending the bank for its support, ACP Baah appealed to other corporate institutions to assist the training school as part of their social responsibility programmes.

He mentioned that although the government continued to support the institution, additional assistance from the private sector would help address some of the school’s infrastructure and logistical challenges.

ACP Baah also expressed optimism that the relationship between the National Police Training School and Bank of Africa would continue to grow for the mutual benefit of both institutions.
