Addo-Kufuor, Robert Agbozo join Newmont Africa leadership
Newmont Africa has announced the appointment of Mr Kwame Addo-Kufuor and Mr Robert Agbozo to its Africa Regional Leadership Team.

Mr Addo-Kufuor has assumed the position of Regional Chief Financial Officer (RCFO) with accountability for the region’s Finance, Business Planning, Tax, Internal Audit and Information Technology services while Mr Agbozo has been appointed Senior Director, Legal Affairs with responsibility for the region’s Legal and Ethics Compliance services.
Prior to joining Newmont, Mr Addo-Kufuor was the Vice-President, Corporate Affairs of AngloGold Ashanti, where he held various leadership roles, including Head of Finance – West Africa Division, Senior Manager (Financial Reporting) at the Corporate Office in Johannesburg; and a Director of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Ltd.
A release, issued by the Director, External Affairs and Communications of Newmont, Mrs Adiki O. Ayitevie, said Mr Addo-Kufuor also worked with Price Waterhouse London and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana.
The release said he had held various senior positions in the mining industry in Ghana, including First Vice-President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
For his part, the release said Mr Agbozo will have oversight responsibility for Newmont Africa’s Legal Function and also assume the role of Board Secretary to Newmont Ghana Gold Limited and Newmont Golden Ridge Limited’s Board of Directors. Prior to taking up his new role, Mr Agbozo was the Manager, Legal Affairs.
He was previously an Associate Legal Counsel at Reindorf Chambers, an Accra law firm and also worked with the British Council in various management roles, including Regional Human Resource Change Project Manager for East and West Africa.
“The appointment of Mr Addo-Kufuor and Mr Agbozo aligns with our Regional Inclusion and Diversity strategy of increasing the representation of nationals in Newmont Africa’s senior leadership positions,” said Johan Ferreira, the Regional Senior Vice-President of Newmont Mining Corporation’s Africa Operations.
“Kwame and Robert bring broad experience in diverse areas that supports the company’s strategy of running a sustainable business that creates shared value for its stakeholders,” he said.
Newmont’s Global Inclusion and Diversity efforts are geared towards ensuring an equitable representation of women and nationals across the organisation, the release noted.
The release emphasised that Newmont’s exploration and development focus is centred on Ghana. We regularly review other opportunities throughout the continent and exploration activity is underway to examine mineral resources in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Morocco.
