ACCESS Bank Ghana PLC has opened its 54th nationwide branch at the Accra Technical University (ATU) campus with an assurance to provide services beyond banking to students as part of its well thought-out “Youth Proposition” initiative.

Inaugural ceremony

Speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate the facility on the ATU Campus on June 10, 2022, the Executive Director ,Retail and Digital Banking of Access Bank, Pearl Nkrumah, indicated that opening the branch on campus was underpinned by the bank's Youth Proposition programme.

“This is making sure that there is a defined and unique banking product specifically for students because they have peculiarities and they will like to be more agile, digital and more innovative” she noted.

Miss Nkrumah stated that the bank would make sure that “we are not just directing and guiding the youth but to manage their finances, particularly how to take right decisions, facilitate youth entrepreneurship development, career, internship and other areas of support and to generally expose the youth to our ecosystem as a bank".

She explained that the bank was aware that as part of the university curriculum, students were required to go through one semester practicals to acquire job experience which the bank could readily facilitate.

“We go to the various campuses and give students the opportunity to be part of the Access brand because we say we are a youthful bank; we start from the campus to give students the opportunity, especially those who are completing their courses to choose Access Bank as a place of work and we do it on a yearly basis" Ms Nkrumah observed.

She said for the past 13 years Access Bank had been pursuing its vision of bringing World class banking services closer to every community that it served.

“We believe that in doing that it helps us to also fulfil our vision of being the world's most respected African bank,” the director stated.

The Chief Operating Officer of the bank, Ade Ologun, said “we have brought the bouquet of all our unique banking products and services right here to you and it our hope that you will take advantage of the presence of our bank here to explore beyond what Access Bank offers".

Appreciation

The Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Professor Samuel Nii Odai, expressed gratitude to the bank for honouring its pledge to establish a branch on campus.

“The message we are trying to send is that as a bank if you establish a branch here you will start getting students to be paying school fees through the bank and if you treat the students well they will remain with you even after completing their courses” he noted.

The President of the ATU Students Representative Council, Terry Ofori Baffour, said the students were delighted when they learnt the bank was opening a new branch on campus.

“We appreciate your coming here,we are delighted and hope that your presence here will enable our students to start paying their school fees through the bank" Mr Ofori Baffour said.
