As the 9th Global Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF) begins today in Dubai, the bustling metropolis has become the center of technological conversations and creative views. Industry executives, IT pioneers, and policymakers from around the world have gathered at the JAFZA Convention Center in the United Arab Emirates to discuss the frontier of ultra-broadband technology.

This year's UBBF, themed "UBB5.5G, Connecting Intelligence for New Growth," aims to explore the possibilities of next-generation connectivity and its significant influence on the intelligent digital world.

Speaking at this year's UBBF are distinguished figures, including the deputy ITU Secretary-General - Tomas Lamanauskas and Eng. Saif Bin Ghalaita, Executive Director Technology Development Affairs, The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), UAE.

The UBBF serves as a beacon, guiding the global community towards a future where ultra-broadband networks not only connect people but also intelligently shape the world of tomorrow. 

The deputy ITU Secretary-General's keynote focused on the urgent need to establish a UBB Target Network for the "Internet of All Intelligence," emphasizing the pivotal role of ultra-broadband in connecting all facets of intelligence in the digital age.

"It is up to us in the digital industry, working with partners, govt, private sector, UN system, civil society to answer the call and to make sure that the benefits of digital technology reaches everyone" He said. He congratulated Huawei for its contribution to connecting the world.

Eng. Saif Bin Ghalaita, also thanked Huawei for creating the enabling forum for such discussions and highlighted the crucial role Ultra Broadband played during the COVID19 pandemic and touched on the development trends in the ultra-broadband industry. 

David Wang, Executive Director of the Board and Chairman of ICT Infrastructure Managing Board at Huawei, explored the transformative potential of UBB5.5G, showcasing how this technology enables new growth and opportunities in the ever-evolving digital landscape. 

Further insights were shared by the UAE and European Carrier CTOs, who jointly discussed business development and network strategies, shedding light on the approaches adopted by carriers to navigate the complex future of the ultra-broadband sector.

Richard Mahony, Vice president, Market Lead of Omdia, directed everyone’s mind to the hidden digital deficit and the need to meet network demands of the 2030 digital economy.

Leo Wang, President of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line, discussed the Net5.5G Target Network and Innovative Solutions, presenting an in-depth overview of cutting-edge data communication technology.

The keynote session of the UBBF 2023 ended on a high note with a grand launch ceremony, where carrier representatives, government officials, and telecom regulators united to accelerate the journey from 10G City to a Smart World.
