Wrestling course begins tomorrow

The three-day course, which climaxes on Sunday, will update wrestling coaches on the new techniques in the Olympic style of wrestling.

The workshop, organised by the Ghana Wrestling Association, will also prepare national team coaches for the upcoming national wrestling tournament in September and the African Wrestling Tournament in October.

Mr Norbert Amefu, the President of the association, told the Daily Graphic that coaches from all the 16 regions will be trained in modern techniques in the sport.

“Renowned Ghanaian wrestling experts - Richard Hammond and Cynthia Dotse - are the resource persons and they will bring their vast experience and knowledge to bear on participants,” he revealed.

Mr Amefu assured that Ghana would definitely qualify wrestlers to the next Olympics in Paris and appealed to the government to support the sport.

The school is opened to both male and female participants will be given certificates and brochures detailing the best practices in Greco-Roman wrestling,” he explained.
