Per the agreement 30 players each from the 16 premier clubs will be entitled to the said amount for the next six month with an additional 20 other persons in the league also benefiting from the amount.

Madam Habiba Atta Forson, a representative of women’s football on the Executive Council, while describing it as a welcome news believes the women’s league can now lay claim to something to support them.

“It is such a piece of exciting news for women’s football. The initiative from YEA has been given to the women by the Executive Council. So this time around, we are going to give some kind of employment packages to our women," she stated.

She lamented the inadequate funds in the women’s football especially because spectators did not have to pay to watch their matches insisting that the move was very beneficial as it would cushion both players and the clubs.

“This intervention will benefit our women a lot. You know, in women’s football we don’t have paying spectators and so there is no money. This is going to help the players and the clubs a lot.”

Madam Habiba was appreciative to the state and the president of the local football governing body for the tremendous work they put into ensuring this deal became a reality.

“I want to say a big thank you to government, the Executive Council and the President of the GFA, Kurt E.S OKraku for helping us to get this kind of support,” she added.
