The hosts won six singles clashes and five doubles games as against two wins each by Wa Tennis Club in the singles and doubles to ensure the comprehensive triumph by 4 Garrison.

Even as guests of their earlier meeting in Wa last year, 4 Garrison had emerged victors even without needing to call on the talent of sisters Brenda and Bridget.

And as hosts of the Independence Day tournament, 4 Garrison seemed even more comfortable in their backyard, as Jonathan Quartey gave them the perfect start with a 7-5 win over Hayford Mwinkuma.

But any hopes that Morris Bayor's 7-6 win over Henry Osei would spark a sudden dominance by Wa Tennis Club's was shortlived as wins by Gyakye Aidoo, Andrews Twum and Joshua Duah over Dominic Amevor, Ruffs Bayor and Roger Nabiebakye respectively set the tone for the comprehensive thrashing in the singles games.

The doubles were also to follow similar pattern as the hosts run away with a five wins out of seven games.

With twins Brenda and Bridget as well as Mr Adu Boakye — who at 58 years old remain evergreen and a great attraction on the tennis court — limited to exhibition plays, 4 Garrison looked to have won over the watching crowd, which included Mamponghe Dasebre Osei Bonsu II, Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani; General Officer Commanding Central Command, Brig. Gen. Joseph Adu Boampong, and the president of the 4 Garrison Tennis Club, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei.
