Tennis: Antwi wins Accra Seniors Open

The talented player dominated with his powerful serves to beat Johnson Acquah 6-2 7-6(3) in the Men’s Professional Singles final.

In the Men’s Semi-Professional Singles final, Charlie Asomeni beat Isaac Dapaah 6-2 7-6(3) while Eric Tetteh Nartey and Michael Steiner beat Seth Mingle and Benjamin Ababio 7-6(5), 4-6, 10-6 in the Men’s Semi-Professional Doubles final.

Frederick Kenderick Atsu also beat Nicholson Nartey 6-4, 6-2 in the Men’s 30-34 years’ Singles final, with Prince Ablorh and Thomas Ohene-Effah also beating James Wiafe and Felix Kabutey 6-4, 6-1 in the Men’s 35- 44 years’ Doubles final.

Isaac Duah defeated David Naawu 6-2, 6-1 in the Men’s Singles 45-54 years’ category while Isaac Duah’s combination with Col Elikem Fiamavle saw them beating Godwin

Ayindua and Amoako Atta 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 in Men’s Doubles 55-64 years category.

Other results saw Michael Sarfo and Kobby Brew pipping Paa Gran and Bob Williams 9-8(3) in the Men’s 55-64 age category, Asmal Ismail beat Nico Fukema 7-5, 6-2 in the Men’s 65 years plus Singles while the Doubles was won by the pair of Charles Sagoe and Nana Dadson, who beat Albert Allotey and Ebo Mends 9-8(4).

The ladies also displayed their fine skills on the court but it was Sisu Tomegah who picked the ultimate prize in the Ladies’ Professional Singles after beating Tracey

Ampah, while Kate Coleman also beat Afia Oforiwaa 6-2, 6-4 in the Ladies 39 years’ Singles category.

In the Ladies 39 years’ Doubles, Eugenia Asigri and Afia Oforiwaa Aboagye beat Lola Mogaji and Shemimah Cobblah 6-3, 6-2 while the Women 40 years above Singles was won by Evelyn Enunwah after beating Faustina Tagoe 6-4, 6-1.

Alfred Okang and Emefa Nukpe also combined to beat Frank Quartey Simpson and Evelyn Enunwah 6-4, 6-2 in the Mixed Doubles final.
