Yeboah gives credit to entire team

Black Meteors' two-goal hero, Emmanuel Yeboah, prefers to be modest about his achievement during Sunday’s game and will give credit to the entire team.

The 20-year-old winger who plays for Liga I side CFR Cluj, climbed off the bench to score a brace during Ghana’s opening game of the under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Congo.

After the game he was hailed and given all the credit for his exceptional contribution that led to the team winning the game 3-2, but the player believes he should not be singled out for praises, but the praise should go collectively to the entire team.

"The credit doesn't belong to me alone. I feel blessed to be part of a group where I can genuinely call each of these players my brothers."

"I'm a pretty relaxed person. When the coach told me to enter the game, I immediately knew what my mission was: to shine for the team", he said.

He said it was up to the team to remain focused and fight because they have a good coach and technical staff who were working to ensure they succeed.

"We have the coach, the staff, and the players to go all the way; it's up to us to stay focused."

"When I saw the opponents, we were going to face, I was delighted because they are powerhouses of African football. It is through such strong opposition that we progress. We couldn't afford to falter today against Congo, and we will gain momentum as the tournament progresses."

Ghana is expected to take on Morocco on Tuesday and a victory would secure the Black Meteors a spot in the semi-finals of this competition.
