2022 World Cup: Ghana to face Nigeria in playoffs

Bitter rivals Ghana and Nigeria will face off for a spot to represent Africa at the 2022 World Cup.

Ghana's Black Stars who are coming off a disappointing group-stage exit from the 2021 AFCON were paired with the Super Eagles of Nigeria who face Tunisia in the Round of 16 of the same competition tomorrow.

The play-off games will be played on a home and away basis (match-dates will be staged March 24-29, 2022).

Other pairings

Liverpool forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will line up on opposite sides after Senegal were paired against record African champions Egypt.

Hosts of the 2022 AFCON, Cameroon, will play the current holders of the AFCON, Algeria who were dumped out of the tournament this week.

DR Congo have been drawn against Morocco and Mali will have to defeat Tunisia to make their first appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
