Thompson aims for world title soon
An emerging Ghanaian boxer, Thompson ‘Lion’ Fosu, says he will soon take the world by storm as he aspires to become a world champion in the next few years.

Sounding very optimistic during an interview with the Graphic Sports last Friday, the welterweight boxer said between now and the next three years, he would be the one to make the nation proud by bringing a world title.
The talented boxer, who started his professional career about a year ago, said he was determined to make that dream come true and has started working hard towards it and insisted that nothing would stop him from achieving that ambition.
Currently, Fosu has an enviable fight record of seven fights with six wins, all by way of knockout and a draw, which has convinced the boxer that he was on the right path and could soon realise his dreams.
Already, he has set his sights on the continental title which he said he was preparing hard towards and given the opportunity, he would not disappoint his fans and manager.
“For now, we are preparing for international ranked competition so that if the opportunity comes, we can fight to become a world champion”, he stated.
Even before he takes the world by storm, Fosu said he was taking the chances one step at a time and was aiming to fight for the African welterweight title before the end of the year and that would be his launch pad towards greater things ahead.
He said he was not intimidated by any opponent, and he was ever ready for any pugilist that would dare to face him in the welterweight category, especially because the best boxers in that category are Ghanaians.
“For now, I am ready for whoever I’ll meet so I’m still preparing. Ghanaians are the toughest fighters in Africa, so I am ever ready for any African boxer”, he said.
Fosu, who is currently being trained by former boxer, Nana Yaw Konadu, also said his trainer was the one he looks up to in his career apart from Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey and said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of these great boxers.
“For now, I am working with Nana Yaw Konadu, and it is because of him that I am still in boxing. He inspired me a lot but aside from him, I have been watching the other world champions, I am talking about Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey whom I take inspiration”, he said.
