Tema ready for draught contest

Some of the biggest names in draught competition in Tema will converge on the TDC Club House from Thursday to Saturday for the maiden edition of a national draught competition for the Tema Region.

Organisers of the three-day competition expect over 100 players from Tema and surrounding areas to show up for what is expected to be an entertaining event.

The winner will receive GH¢1000, while the first and second runners-up will receive GH¢500 and GH¢300 respectively.

Park Kojo Okyere, chief executive of Parkland Enterprise, said the competition should change the perception about draught and raise the game to new heights among sports disciplines in the country.

“Draught is played in every corner of the country, but we think the interest should grow wider because it is a brain game where players show a lot of thinking,” he told Daily Graphic.

“The target is to make the game a national past time where both the young and old will patronise it for the involvement of brain work in it,” he added.
