A statement signed by Mr Kodwo Morgan, co-ordinator of the games, explained that the decision to close  registration some two weeks before the games would enable the organisers to make the necessary preparations for  international and Ghanaian NGOs, strategic partners and development agencies who would participate in the games.

It named some  NGOs which had confirmed their participation as Wishes Alliance, a platform that connects NGOs, volunteers and other stakeholders; Young Men Christian Association (YMCA);  and African Renaissance, Alive & Kicking, an organisation that uses business to pursue charitable and development objectives by producing hand-sewn footballs, volleyballs, netballs, handballs and rugby balls here in Ghana, Kenya, and Zambia.

Others are ANOPA Project, an organisation that uses sports as an instrument for individual development, promotion of gender equity, peace building and conflict resolution, communication as well as social mobilisation; Doxa School of Fashion & Design, a fashion school geared towards empowering the creativity of young people;

and the Coalition of Volunteering Organisations of Ghana (COVOG), a network of organisations that use volunteers and promotes volunteerism for national development.
