Queens aim at another Tunisia win

Ghana's senior female football team, the Black Queens, plan to beat Tunisia again when they meet in the final leg of their African Women's Championship (AWC) qualifier in Accra tomorrow.

The Queens earned an important away victory in the first leg played in Tunis last week, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 and are hoping to repeat the feat at the Accra Stadium tomorrow.

Coach Yussif Basigi told the Graphic Sports that they were going into the return leg as if their very lives depended on it.

"We're going into this game as if the qualifiers have just begun or it's the final of a match. Either way, we have to win.

"Though a draw will be good result to see us through because of the first leg results, winning is a better option as it boosts our confidence and re-emphasises the gains in our team-building effort," Coach Basigi said.

He alluded to the fact that they struggled to settle early in the first leg and said those mistakes which nearly cost them in Tunis have corrected going into the second leg.

"In the first leg we allowed the Tunisians to control the midfield and they also played it rough. On Tuesday, our game plan will be to continue from where we left off in the second half of the first leg --- get hold of the midfield early, play more of a passing game rather than holding on to the ball.

That way we avoid the rough tackles and put pressure on their jittery defence."

From his game plan, there is not likely to be a change in the Queens' starting line-up tomorrow. If there will be, then Edem Atovor could start ahead of Cynthia Adobea and Nana Asantewaa in post for Patricia Mantey, who saw red in Tunis.

Graphic Sports’ probable line up: Nana Ama Asantewaa, Janet Egyir, Edem Atovor, Hillia Kobblah, Linda Eshun, Juliet Acheampong, Mercy Myles, Samira Suleman, Wasila Diwura-Soale, Portia Boakye, Pincella Adubea.
