Pro Boxing League: Winning start for security services

The second season of the Ghana Professional Boxing League got underway last Saturday at the Bukom Boxing Arena with the newest entrants, Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Prisons Service, both recording impressive wins on their debut appearance.

Bawa Akankoun, a corporal of the Ghana Armed Forces, scored a fourth round technical knockout (TKO) over Emmanuel Annor of Seconds Out Gym in their six-round heavyweight fight.

Burly Anani Kutoskey, a sergeant of the Ghana Prisons Service, defeated stubborn Daniel Somitey over six rounds in their cruiserweight contest, with the judges scoring the fight 59-56, 59-56, 59-54.

Sampson Jarah of Wisdom Gym earned an easy payday with a first round TKO victory over Sam Nii Abbey of Bridge Gym in a super middleweight contest. 
In other fights, Akotoku Academy’s Shakul Samed, a former member of Ghana’s national amateur team Black Bombers, defeated Francis Akakpo of Black Panthers on points in their super middleweight contest. 

The judges scored it 59-55, 60-54, 60-54 in favour of Samed.

Win for debutant
Teenage sensation Cann Neequaye won his debut professional fight with a unanimous points victory over Ivorien Mumuni Sawado, Emmanuel Mawuli of Charles Quartey Boxing Federation (CQBF) earned points victory against Stanley Nyantakye of Bronx Gym, while Abraham Dodoo of Fit Square Gym earned a first round knockout win over Akimus Annan Ampiah of Attoh Quashie Club.

After the opening week fights, Attoh Quarshie tops the league table with three points, followed by Ghana Armed forces, Wisdom Gym, Akotoku Academy, CBQF, Panix and Ghana Prions Service, all on three points each.
