Philadelphia have sent a message out to their vociferous fanbase to throng the airport and make sure the Ghanaian forward feels welcome.

The statement said: "David Accam will be arriving at PHL Terminal C tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, January 21st, at 2:30 PM!

Bring the passion, bring the noise, and let's welcome our newest member of the Philadelphia Union!".

Accam's former club Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that they have acquired a combined $1.2 million in allocation money from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for Ghana's David Accam.

The Fire received $900,000 in Targeted Allocation Money - $400,000 in 2018 and $500,000 in 2019 - and $300,000 in General Allocation Money - $200,000 in 2018 and $100,000 in 2019.

The Fire retain a significant percentage of any transfer revenues through 2020 should the player's services be sold outside of MLS.

"In order to advance the building of our championship program and our game style a bold move was required," said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. "The assets we acquired give us the opportunity to accelerate toward that goal with greater flexibility. Philadelphia got a wonderful person and a player their fans will adore. We appreciate all of David's efforts and wish him well."

The Fire acquired Accam on Dec. 19, 2014 from Swedish side Helsingborgs IF. The two-time Fire MVP and Golden Boot winner appeared in a total of 78 league matches for the Men in Red, scoring 33 goals and adding 15 assists.

The Fire will retain a percent of the revenue should Accam be transferred outside of MLS. The Fire will receive 90 percent if the transfer takes place in 2018, 65 percent if during the first six months of 2019, 50 percent for the second half of 2019, 40 percent if during the first six months of 2020 and 15 percent for the second half of 2020.

Transaction: Chicago Fire acquire $900,000 in Targeted Allocation Money and $300,000 in General Allocation Money from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for David Accam.
