The National Sports Authority (NSA) will soon phase out sales of advance tickets for international matches.

The decision is to help curb the printing of fake tickets during big matches which are likely to attract huge patronage.

A source which disclosed this to the Daily Graphic noted that though advance ticket sales were in accordance with FIFA regulations, the system was creating a haven for unscrupulous individuals to cash in on the situation to print fake tickets and sell them during these matches.

The source blamed the security personnel usually deployed at the gates to check tickets for doing very little to save the situation.

Refering to last Friday’s World Cup qualifier, the source noted that thousands of fans with genuine tickets were left stranded outside the stadium as others with fake tickets were comfortably seated in the stadium, adding that even the security features on the tickets did not help.
