Meet the oldest and youngest players at the 2018 AWCON

Equatorial Guinea has presented the youngest player for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations (2018 AWCON) which gets underway on Saturday, November 17, 2018.

She is 13-year-old Atletico Malabo forward Berta Meliana Ochaga who according to the official CAF teamsheets was born on November 7, 2005. She will wear the name Okomo behind her jersey during the tournament.

On the other end of the spectrum is veteran Algerian striker Djamila Marek who was born on May 8, 1980. She is 38 years.

Marek will turn out for the North African side when they engage hosts Ghana in the opener on Saturday.

The oldest player in coach Bashir Hayford's Black Queens team is midfielder and deputy captain, Portia Boakye.

Boakye, 29, plays her club football with Fradi FC in Hungary and was born on April 17, 1989.

The youngest player in the Ghana team in defender Grace Asantewaa who is 17 years.

Asantewaa plays her club football with Ampem Darkoa Ladies in Ghana and turns 18 on December 12, 2018.
