Medeama target money zone at CAF Champs League
The board chairman of Tarkwa-based Premier League side, Medeama SC, Toni Aubynn, says they have set their target at the money zone when they compete in this year’s Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) club competition.

Medeama leads the betPawa Premier League with 56 points with two matches to play and they look likely to snatch the slot for participation in the continental club competition.
Speaking to the Graphic Sports in an interview last Friday, the Black Galaxies management committee chairman emphasised that he would have loved to see Medeama win the CAF Champions league but was hoping to get to the money zone, so their investment won’t go waste.
“I have always been disrespectful of lower targets, I think the ultimate is to win but realistically, you need to enter into the money zone because if you put in all your effort and investment and you don’t actually get to the money zone, you would have spent money for nothing”, he stressed.
“We are confident of winning the league, we think that we have been hard done by nature you remember that during the nomalisation period, we were in a comfortable lead and then the league was truncated.
Dr Aubynn believes the Tarkwa-based club deserve to win the league this season after it eluded them in the last few years when they had the best chance of winning.
“Then before COVID-19, we were also in the lead when government postponed the league and we think we have not been fairly treated by nature so it’s our time to win”, Dr Aubynn said.
He was unhappy with the practice where clubs won the local league but failed to participate in the continental competitions which he described as an indictment on the country that must not be allowed to continue and urged government to intervene financially to support teams that qualify.

Dr Aubynn was of the opinion that because the clubs contributed significantly to employment, the government must not leave them alone to their fate when playing such competitions and expressed the hope Medeama would receive some support from the state when they began their campaign.
