Match-fixing scandal: Inter Allies duo invited for investigations

Hashmin Musah the Inter Allies defender and Danso Wiredu Mensah, the goalkeeper are expected to appear before the investigating team enquiring into the match-fixing allegation on Friday.

Musah, scored two own goals during their final Premier League game against Ashantigold at the Len Clay Stadium and according to him he allegedly heard that a betting syndicate wanted the score to be 5-0 but because he did not condone with betting, he decided to spoil it by scoring two own goals.

Following this, a committee has been set up by the Ghana Football Association to investigate the authenticity of the allegation and the two players are expected to appear before the committee on Friday.

A statement by the FA said, “This sporting investigation is to ascertain any violations of the relevant provisions of the GFA Code of Ethics, 2019, the Premier League Regulations, 2019 and the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019 in reference to the Match-day 34 Ghana Premier League tie between AshantiGold SC and Inter Allies FC played on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium”.

The FA has also encouraged any individuals, media or technical team members who may have any material evidence that will help the course of the investigations to submit it through the GFA integrity Hotline and email.
