The 64-year-old trainer signed a two-year deal to join the Royals after his departure from Aduana Stars at the end of last season. Fabin will be assisted by Tahiru Yusif Amuda, the coach of the University of Ghana football team.

Taking up his official duties last Monday, Fabin's mandate includes nurturing young talents for potential sales to bolster the team's financial stability while simultaneously elevating their competitiveness within the league.

Appeal and Commitment

Speaking about his decision to take up the role, Fabin said he had initially considered taking a break from football and establishing an academy after departing from Aduana Stars last season. However, he was swayed by the Legon Cities project, which centres on cultivating young players.

"I felt compelled to come and help and take the team to the level that they want it to be. I like challenges like this and with all the cooperation from the management members and technical staff we will be able to achieve our goals," Fabin said yesterday at a press briefing in Accra.

"I have done it before at Inter Allies where we sold nine players during the season but with the support of management we still managed to achieve our goals".

Recalling his previous achievements, Fabin highlighted his success at Inter Allies, where he managed the sale of nine players within a season while still realizing the club's goals.

Fabin who has coached all of Ghana's underage men's national teams (Black Starlets, Black Satellites and Black Meteors) outlined his coaching philosophy, focusing on crafting a well-conditioned and competitive team that is resolute in defence.

The former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak coach also acknowledged the need for experienced players to complement the youthful squad, aiming to surpass Legon Cities' consecutive ninth-place finishes in the last two seasons.

Continued Change in Leadership

Fabin's appointment continues a trend of coaching changes at Legon Cities over the past four years of the club's existence. The team's debut campaign was under the guidance of Goran Barjaktarevic, succeeded by Bashir Hayford and later Maxwell Konadu.

The Ghana Premier League is set to kick off on the weekend of Friday, September 15 to Monday, September 18, 2023, spanning across all nine Premier League venues.
