Wednesday, June 16, 1971

It was a massacre in Kumasi as  Sensational Akotex, invaded the Ashanti Regional Capital, outplayed and outscored the champions of Africa 3-0 at their own backyard in an incredible manner. It was the Akosombo lads first season in the league.

right winger Okyere broke the deadlock in the first half.

The Porcupine Warriors accepted the challenge and tried to tame Akotex, but they found them a hard nut to crack. And just as they were searching for the equaliser, the hosts were stunned again in the 40th minute, when inside left Sulley struck a thunderbolt to double Akotex’s lead in the 40th minute.

Sulley scored his personal double of the day in the 48th minute to execute the coup de-grace in the 48th minute.
