Kotoko, Nea Salamina clash today

Kumasi Asante Kotoko last Monday recalled their five players from the Black Stars B camp to beef up their squad ahead of their outstanding MTN FA Cup quarter-final clash with Division One side, W. Nea Salamina, at the Baba Yara Stadium today at 3pm.

The players are goalkeeper Felix Annan, Amos Frimpong, Mohammed Awal, Emmanuel Gyamfi and striker Sadick Adams. In addition, Kotoko have delayed the release of central defender, Ahmed Adams, to the Stars B camp to enable him to feature in today’s encounter,

The above development underlines the determination of the Porcupine Warriors to join Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC and Wa All Stars in the semi-finals of this year’s MTN FA Cup.

The match was postponed as a result of Kotoko’s recent motor accident  a couple of weeks ago which rendered most of their players unfit to play the game.

Kotoko are keen on returning to winning ways, having managed a 1-1 draw with Hearts in their outstanding Premier League encounter upon their return to the pitch from a motor accident which took the life of their assistant equipment manager, Kofi Asare.

Coach Steve Pollack’s approach to the game at their favourite home ground gives Kotoko the edge over Nea Salamina, who are in contention for a premeirship spot next season.

In a related development, the final draw of the MTN FA Cup will take place at the M Plaza Hotel in Accra next Tuesday, August 22, at 11a.m.

The event will see the FA Cup Committee (FACC) announcing the semi-final and final venues for the competition.

However, the chairman of the FACC, Kurt E.S. Okraku, has urged all the participating clubs to abide by the regulations for the competition and use the prescribed embossments or face the necessary sanctions.

Meanwhile, soccer fans can purchase tickets for the match with their respective MTN mobile money accounts.
