It's Ghana's time to shine — GFA boss

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars' ability to make a significant impact at the FIFA World Cup, insisting that the team is ready to compete for the ultimate prize.

Addressing the players during a farewell dinner in the United States ahead of the tournament, the GFA President urged the squad to embrace the challenge and prove doubters wrong.

According to Mr Okraku, despite concerns and scepticism from some sections of the public regarding the team's prospects, he remains optimistic about Ghana's chances of achieving success on the global stage.

"This is our time to shine. The stakes are high. A lot of people don't believe, but I do. I feel energised and very upbeat about our chances in this tournament. We are Ghana, and we shall conquer," he told the players.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Second Vice-President stressed that the Black Stars were not travelling to the tournament merely to participate but to compete for honours.

"We are ready to battle for glory," he declared, encouraging the players to approach the competition with confidence and determination.

Mr Okraku said the current squad possesses the quality and character needed to compete with the world's best teams, pointing to the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the players over the years.

"I strongly believe in these players and, over time, they have proven that they have the quality, the talent, the hunger and the desire to make Ghana proud," he said.

The GFA President reiterated the association's faith in the team and challenged the players to seize the opportunity to write a new chapter in Ghana's football history.

"We strongly believe in this team, and we know that we are not here to be counted among the numbers but to compete and fight for the title," he added.

The Black Stars will be seeking to make a deep run in the tournament and build on Ghana's proud history at the FIFA World Cup, where the nation has produced several memorable performances on the global stage.
