It will be difficult to replace Christian Atsu - President Akufo-Addo
President Akufo-Addo has sympathised with the family of Christian Atsu, noting that it will be difficult to find a replacement for the Black Stars striker.
Sharing his condolences on the passing of the Ghanaian forward, President Akufo-Addo said: "On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I extend sincere, heartfelt condolences to the widow, children and family of our fellow Ghanaian, Christian Atsu, on the sad news of his death."Subscribe
Using a scripture from Job 1:21, the President said, "The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away..."
For him, the striker "...will be sorely missed."
Atsu was found dead in his apartment on Saturday morning, February 18, 2023, following an earthquake that hit almost two weeks ago in Türkiye.
Rescue operations could not immediately retrieve the striker from the rubbles when the incident happened.
However, sustained rescue operations has led to the discovery of the lifeless body of the Ghanaian international in the rubbles.
Atsu who played for Hatayspor before his tragic death was one of the star players from the Chelsea academy before heading to Türkiye.
The 31-year-old was residing in an apartment in the Hatay city which suffered huge damages during the quake.
Christian Atsu's Manager, Nana Sechere who had travelled to Turkey and was providing follow ups during the week confirmed the striker's death in a tweeted.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has also confirmed Atsu's death in a statement.
