Ghanaians pay tributes to Christian Atsu on social media

Netizens have been paying tribute to Black Stars player, Christian Atsu, following the announcement of his death in the Türkiye earthquake.

Atsu was found dead in his apartment on Saturday morning, February 18, 2023, following an earthquake that hit almost two weeks ago in Türkiye.

Rescue operations could not immediately retrieve the striker from the rubbles when the incident happened.

However, sustained rescue operations has led to the discovery of the lifeless body of the Ghanaian international in the rubbles.

Atsu who played for Hatayspor before his tragic death was one of the star players from the Chelsea academy before heading to Türkiye.

The 31-year-old was residing in an apartment in the Hatay city which suffered huge damages during the quake.

Christian Atsu's Manager, Nana Sechere who had travelled to Turkey and was providing follow ups during the week confirmed the striker's death in a tweeted.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has also confirmed Atsu's death in a statement.
