I did not resign on financial grounds — Boafo

The immediate past Ashanti Regional Hockey Association President, Yaw Acheampong Boafo, said he did not resign from the position because of a drain on his pocket but due to personal reasons.

In a post on a WhatsApp platform for the regional association executives members, Lawyer Boafo stated, “Colleagues due to personal reasons and other commitments, I have decided to resign forthwith my position as president of the Ashanti Region Hockey Association.

“I will communicate my decision to the Ghana Hockey Association.”

Mr Boafo, who doubles as the president of the Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association, expressed regret that the news was put in the public domain before officially communicating to the Ghana Hockey Association in Accra.

A tax officer and the current vice-president of the regional association, Kwabena Akyeampong, takes over as acting president.
