Wire Weaving supports Nkegbe with GH¢5,000

Ghana’s leading para-cyclist, Botsyo Nkegbe, has received GH¢5,000 from Wire Weaving Industries Ghana Limited towards his preparation for the Botsyo for Gold project.

The donation forms part of a fundraising drive by the para-cyclist geared towards his bid to win gold at the upcoming All Africa Games scheduled for Casablanca in August this year, as well as the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in August next year.

The gesture is expected to cater for the athlete’s expenditure for the second phase of his training, which is a one-month residential camping in Cape Coast.

Making the presentation, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Yasser Aschkar, said his outfit supported Botsyo during his preparations towards the 2016 para-athletics championship “and we also believe in his project which seeks to bring gold to Ghana,” he said.

Botsyo expressed gratitude to the company for its support, hoping to win gold to serve as a motivation to young para-athletes to work hard and aim for the ultimate.

“Winning a gold medal would not only add up to Ghana’s medal haul but will also give hope and recognition to young and upcoming para-athletes and propel them to aim higher,” he stated.

The project manager, Mr Clenard Bawa Adayina, explained that they would need $17,000 towards the project and, therefore, appealed to individuals and corporate bodies to come to their aid.

“The project requires $17,000 to wrap up his international training camps and some international Paralympic Committee events, hence we are appealing to individuals, Corporate Ghana and the government to come to our aid,” Clenard stated.
