GFA assets to be re-evaluated

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indicated it will see to have a true valuation of its properties following what congress believed was an undervaluation by the annual auditors report.

Per the auditing reports presented at its Ordinary Congress at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region, the GFA’s assets were valued at $3 million, a figure which was challenged by the President of Tema Youth, Mr Wilfred Kweku Osei (Palmer).

Mr Osei argued that the FA’s assets at a prime area such as Osu in Accra and 100 acres of land at Prampram should not be valued as low as $3 million.

Challenge for sponsorship

He added that the current valuation of the GFA assets could affect the association’s quest to attract corporate sponsorships since companies would not be interested in investing huge sums of money in an organisation with such valuation.

“I don’t think this should be the best of valuation of the whole GFA assets because we are worth more than what has been done.

“We need to come together to have a proper evaluation of our assets and I believe that will help bring satisfaction to sponsors who want to invest in the GFA,” he said.

Responding to the Tema Youth Chief, the GFA President, Mr Kurt Okraku, noted that the association would give consideration to his proposal in a bid to have a real valuation of the GFA’s properties.

He noted that re-evaluation of the FA’s assets would be a major concern of his administration in order to ensure they are properly valued.

“I think Palmer raised good concerns and we will have to look at it to ensure our assets are evaluated again to have a brighter picture,” the FA president said in response.
