Black Spikers in nostalgic clash for African Games

The match, aptly named 'Saluting the Pioneers,' brought together some key personalities in the sport, including the President of the Ghana Volleyball Association, George Tetteh, who expressed confidence in the readiness of both the male and female national teams for the upcoming African Games, scheduled for March, next year.

He emphasised the need for crucial support in the form of equipment and funding to facilitate effective training and preparation.

“The male and female Black Spikers are all ready for the African Games but need support in the form of equipment and money to enhance our camping and training,” he told the Daily Graphic.

A former national volleyball chief and onetime Deputy Editor of the Daily Graphic, Emmanuel Amoako, called on the volleyball fraternity to form a united front to promote the growth of the sport in the country.

Ampomah Collins, the organiser of the memorable match, pledged to establish the competition between past and present players as a recurring highlight on the volleyball calendar.
