According to Agogo, he is excited to return to the country from his base in Canada to test his skills against the finest bodybuilders on the local scene.

"I'm excited to go back home to help bring some more to the rapidly growing bodybuilding industry in Ghana. With the 2014 Man Ghana title already under my belt, I'm excited to compete with Ghana's best for the 2017 title," Agogo told the GraphicOnline.

However, he will have to see off competition from the likes of defending champion Cyrille Kofi Adja who is on course for a record-equaling treble.

According to the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), it is pulling all the stops to ensure that former winners of the championship will be involved in the 10th anniversary of the championship.

The statement said this year's competition is open to all Ghanaian bodybuilders except those who have been suspended or expelled by the GBFA.

History of Man Ghana

The first Man Ghana competition put together by the GBFA was won by Samuel Asante alias Obour. The competition has seen six different champions since the first edition in 2006.

In 2007, the event was won by Christopher Antoh alias Sabato while Kofi Salia completed a memorable treble by claiming the title in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In 2011, the event was not staged but when the event returned in 2012 it was won by Yaw Azure alias Sweet.

Again in 2013, the event could not be held. In 2014, the event was won by John Anum alias Agogo before  current champion Cyrille Kofi Adja won a double in 2015 and 2016.
