A renowned FIFA lawyer, scout and publisher, Guedes Ribeirio Lopes Macieiriha Luis Pedro, is expected to be at this year's Duamenefa tournament slated for Dzodze in the Volta Region on Saturday.
The scout who is in the country for the first time on the invitation of Patrick Doamekpor, a football expert and analyst based in the USA, and Michael Helegbe, a former Black Stars player and official agent of the tournament, will be hunting for talents at the annual Duamenefa Regional Tournament.
The regional tournament which is an initiative of Fafa FM in the Volta Region started in 2017 with 47 teams and saw participation increase to 104 teams in 2019 with this year's tournament attracting 61 teams to compete over a period of five months.
Duamenefa is a social intervention NGO made up of 28,000 registered and certified volunteers scattered across various communities in the Volta Region with the mandate to promote peaceful coexistence, hence the launch of the tournament to unearth talents.
This year's grand finale is expected to attract about 30,000 spectators, volunteers and stakeholders to grace the occasion.
According to Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, the executive president of the Duamenefa Foundation and CEO of Fafa FM, this year's edition of the tournament will be used to empower the over 28,000 volunteers and the 1,200 officials who will serve on the board as community leaders in over 220 targeted communities in the Volta Region.
Mr Pedro's visit is expected to offer the NSA the opportunity to explore other avenues of sports development to the benefit of the region.
