Dogboe inches closer to another world title shot

Former world champion Isaac 'Royal Storm' Dogboe (24-3, 15KO) has moved a step closer to another shot at a world title, with a showdown against undefeated featherweight sensation Nick Ball (18-0, 11KOs) scheduled for Saturday, November 18, in Manchester, UK.

Rated first (Ball) and second (Dogboe) by the WBC in the featherweight division, these top contenders will clash in a Queensberry Promotions event, vying for the chance to challenge the winner of the forthcoming battle between WBC World featherweight champion Rey Vargas and WBC Interim titlist, Brandon Figueroa, later this year.

This pivotal bout signals Dogboe's resurgence in pursuit of a world championship, following the loss of his WBO World super-bantamweight title to Emanuel Navarrete that in 2018 during his second title defence.

Following an unsuccessful title rematch with Navarrete, Dogboe ascended to the featherweight division, securing four consecutive victories and claiming the NABF and WBO International belts.

These accomplishments set the stage for a shot at the vacant WBO featherweight title against Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez, though Dogboe was denied by a unanimous decision.

The upcoming clash with Ball marks Dogboe's return to the ring after a seven-month hiatus since his bout with Ramirez in April.

Currently, under the guidance of Barry Hunter at the Bald Eagle Gym in Washington D.C., Dogboe embraces the opportunity to once again be crowned a world champion.

“I know coming off a world title loss, to many, it would’ve sunk them into the abyss,” Dogboe said in an interview with bout promotors Queensberry.

He emphasised that for him, this fight, his first on British soil since turning professional, is about redemption.

“But I am still on my feet and God is guiding me day after day. Fighting in a WBC world title eliminator against an opponent like Nick Ball is a wonderful opportunity. He’s a great fighter with a lot of buzz behind him in the UK. This fight is about redemption. I haven’t fought on English soil since I turned pro. My passion for boxing started there, and I can’t wait to return home.”
