Destruction at Abrankese, Kotoko to cough up GHȻ80,000

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been slapped Asante Kotoko with GHȻ80,000 fine following the unruly behaviour by their supporters during their Premier League game against Nations FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

During the said game, fans of the Porcupine Warriors went on rampage by reaping off the plastic chairs at the stadium and pelted the match officials with sachet water in protest of some decisions by the referee.

This conduct, the Disciplinary Committee of the FA said breached Article 16(c) and 16(f) of the code that governed the league and must pay for their conduct.

Kotoko pleaded not guilty to the charges but the GFA prosecutors said the video evidence as well as the match report from the match officials found the Porcupine Warriors guilty of the charges.

“Per evidence adduced from the video recording of the said match and the reports of the match officials, Asante Kotoko SC was found guilty of the charges by the Disciplinary Committee”.

According to the adjudicating body, the decision had been communicated to the club and added that the fine would be used to repair the properties that were damaged by the fans of Asante Kotoko at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

“In the decision of the Committee which has been communicated to the club, the total fine shall be given to Nations FC to repair the damage caused to the Stadium including the broken seats”, it said.

The Disciplinary Committee also fined various clubs and individual players and they are Issah Amadu (in the match against Nations FC), Sheriff Mohammed (in the match against Nations FC), Bechem United FC (in the match against Nsoatreman FC), Bechem United FC (in the match against Medeama SC), Berekum Chelsea FC (in the match against Bibiani Goldstars) and Bibiani Goldstars (in the match against Hearts of Oak SC).

Others are Asante Kotoko SC (in the match against Karela FC), Bibiani Goldstars FC(in the match against Heart of Lions FC), Appiah MacCarthy (in the match against Hearts of Oak SC), Aduana FC (in the match against Great Olympics), Dreams FC (in the match against Medeama SC), Karela FC (in the match against Bofoakwa Tano FC) and Nations FC (in the match against Asante Kotoko SC).

The rest are Nsoatreman FC (in the match against Legon Cities FC), Nsoatreman FC (in the match against Bechem United FC) and RTU FC (in the match against Heart of Lions FC
