Cofie, Cole excel in October Medal

A net score of 68 (4 under par) handed the men’s Group B trophy to Geoffrey Cofie, while Ian Cole, 71 net, beat Dr Till on countback in the October Medal Play at the Achimota Golf Club last Saturday.

Eddie Addo finished first in the men’s Group A category after recording a 69 net score, beating Abodi Klenn by a stroke, who also defeated Kojo Choi by same margin.

 Lady Captain Clara Price returned an impressive 70 net score but was disqualified, allowing Jessica Tei to win the ladies category with a net score of 73 and claim her second trophy in six days after emerging tops at the inaugural tourney.

Playing to handicap 36, Phelisia Njomba followed in second place with 78,  after beating Aku Yaba on countback.

Catherine Boateng went home with the Guest Player Prize after returning a 77 net score, with Boris Afram picking the men’s event with a 72 net.

It was R. Killick who lifted the Closest to the Pin prize. 

Lucky Ayisah finished first in the pros event with a gross score of 69, while Stephen Klah and Robert Degbe followed with 71 and 72 gross respectively.

Captain of the club, Frank Adu Jnr, commended the golfers for turning up in their numbers taking into account a tight inaugural open a week earlier.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that members who fail to make two successive medal play appearances would be punished.
