Bonsu, Captan win Ghana Open

Owusu Bonsu on Monday grossed 222 points to pick the ultimate in the men’s scratch event at the 81st Ghana Open Amatuer Golf Championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course.

He picked up the top spot ahead of J. Klah on countback after Klah had also grossed 222 in the three-day event. P.K. Amenyo also beat S. Asorgba on count back with a gross of 226.

The ladies event also saw veteran golfer, Mona Myles-Lamptey, picking the first position with a gross of 170 followed by C. Nyantekyi and Amponsah Mensah who both tied with a gross of 178.

In the handicap event, Ms Awuni  won the ladies category with a net score of 146, while Ms Etwi Barimah placed second with 148. B.S. Seo won the men’s category with 209 net score followed closely by Dorkey Fand Ghandour A.

Mulawarman R. was the champion in the juniors category with a net score of 105 and was followed closely by Mubarak B. with a net of 106.

Winners were awarded with trophies and souvenirs from sponsors of the three- day competition organised by the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) to commemorate this year’s Founder’s Day.
