Betway Talent Search: Eight GPL contracts up for grabs

Eight aspiring professional footballers will land guaranteed contracts with four Ghana Premier League clubs if they impress former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah and his team of six scouts during the second edition of the Betway Talent Search which gets underway on August 4.

The novelty event which sets out to unearth rising talents across the country was introduced last year by betting company, Betway and this year’s hunt cuts across the length and breadth of the country in search of young footballers between the ages of 18 and 25.

According to the organisers, those who excel in the trial period will later be recruited after being tried and tested through a series of screening exercises by an experienced scouting team led by the current technical coordinator of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah.

Others on the scouting team include current Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu, Coach Eric Antwi and Twumasi Forkuoh of Lizzy Sports Complex, Godfried Adoube, Sam Johnson and Mohammed Gargo, all former Black Stars who have coaching badges.
