Basketball awards on October 16
Students of Accra Polytechnic, the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) basketball champions, dominate the list of awards nominees for the 2015 Ghana Basketball Awards.

The final shortlist of the awards, scheduled for October 16 at the TV3 premises in Accra, was released last Tuesday with the Accra-based tertiary institution leading the nominations following a trophy-laden year with victories in the UPAC and Ghana Polytechnic Sports Association (GHAPSA) games.
Romeo Enan Wilfred, Abdul Mutaleb Alhassan, Daniel Nii Aryee and reigning champion Baniba Norbert Dodzi, will fight for the ultimate crown; the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season in the male category.
In the women's MVP category, Accra Polytechnic’s captain, Grace Martina Doe, will slug it out with Yayrah Kluiboto (University of Cape Coast), Claudia Seidu (Takoradi Polytechnic) and Belinda Tawiah (CEPS).
The Accra Polytechnic basketball team must fend off competition from Braves of CEPS, Mfantsipim School and University of Cape Coast for the Team of the Year.
The Coach of the Year will be an intriguing battle with veteran and defending champion, Brimah Lawah of Accra Polytechnic and CEPS, hoping to retain his title against Isaac Kobina Owusu Mensah (University of Cape Coast and Mfantsipim School), Isaac Reagan (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology) and Emmanuel Quaye (Tema Youth).
The High School Coach of the Year, which will be keenly contested for by four trainers; .Isaac Kobina Owusu Mensah, who guided Mfantsipim to win their fourth Sprite Ball Championship title, Ahmed Baffoe of TI Ahamadiyya, Prince Adarkwah of Aggrey Memorial SHS and Kofi Siaw Boateng of Keta SHS.
Romeo Enan Wilfred (Accra Polytechnic), Ibrahim Mohammed (University of Cape Coast), Nana Owusu Agyei Afriyie (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology) and Kingsley Quist (Zenith University College) will vie for honours in the Tertiary Player of the Year category.
The male High School Player of the Year award will be contested by Mfantsipim duo, Jamani Salifu Misheal and Daniel Owusu, as well as Bompeh Senior High School handler Christopher Appiah and Edwin Appiah of Legon Presbyterian Boy's SHS.
The female High School Player of the Year is a straight fight among defending champion, Joana Danso (Aggrey Memorial SHS), Rachel Obeng of Kumasi-based TI Amass, Juliana Cudjoe (Aggrey Memorial) and Rebecca Korankye–Taylor (Mfantsiman SHS).
