Ghana’s representative for next season’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup will be decided tomorrow when Premier League giants, AshantiGold, clash with Division One Nzema Kotoko in the final of the GFA Normalisation Committee Tier 2 Special Competition at the Cape Coast Stadium tomorrow.

Both teams have put up excellent performances throughout the campaign and will battle to reward themselves with not just a ticket to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup but the whopping GH¢150,000 winners prize.

On their way to the final, underdogs Nzema Kotoko stunned rivals Karela United on penalties in the quarter-finals to end the Tier 1 finalists’ 40 matches unbeaten home run. The Nzema-based side edged closer to the trophy with a vital 2-1 semi-final win over fellow Division One side, Unistar Academy, in Cape Coast.

Favourites Ashgold also defeated Medeama FC 1-0 in the quarter-finals at Obuasi and soared higher to defeat regional rivals, Asante Kotoko, 3-1, at the Accra Stadium a little over a week ago to keep their hopes of returning to Africa alive.

It is no secret that Ashgold have a stronger squad in all departments going into this game as compared to their opponents and will seek to end the season with a silverware and a ticket to Africa.

Coach Kjetil Zachariassen’s side will be led in attack by two-goal hero in the semi-final, skipper Mumuni Shafiu, while midfield dynamo Appiah McCarthy pushes his men upfront, with Richard Osei Agyemang as the pivot in defence.

Nzema Kotoko will also feature the two-pronged attack of Francis Atitsogo and Agyenim Boateng who have proved to be a nightmare for many defenders.
