Andre Ayew declares himself ready for second Swansea debut

Andre Ayew has given himself a clean bill of health to make his second Swansea City debut against Burnley on Saturday.

Ayew rejoined the Swans on transfer-deadline day in a club-record deal.

The Ghana international striker had been struggling with a hamstring injury in his last couple of weeks at West Ham, but returned to full training at the start of this week.

Ayew scored 12 goals in 35 appearances during his first stint in SA1 in 2015-16.

And with the Swans looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five games on Saturday, Ayew hopes he can play a part.

“I have had a full week of training and feel ready but we will have to see – it will be up to the boss,” he said.

“I am excited to have this second opportunity with Swansea. I am 28 and still have a lot to give.

“The team have put together a great run in the last few weeks and I hope to help build on that with the games we have in the coming weeks.”

Ayew will come into a side who are enjoying what is comfortably their best run of the season.

The Swans have lost just once in 10 games in all competitions, but still have plenty of work to do if they are to remain in the Premier League.

“You are always under pressure in life, but we have a great club with great fans,” Ayew added.

“There are a lot of people behind our team. I am confident, but we must not be afraid to take challenges.

“We want to stay in the Premier League and as a team, we are going to do everything to make sure we achieve that.”
