Ntow-Fiako:Reconsider date for GFA Congress

He maintained that the scheduled date coincided with the much-anticipated Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) ruling on a case involving Tema Youth founder, Wilfred Kwaku Osei (Palmer) and the GFA.

“Any attempt to hold the congress on September 1 will only result in divided attention and a programme what would lack seriousness since all attention will be on the CAS ruling,” he told the Graphic Sports in an interview.

The Executive Council (ExCo) of the FA, in the exercise of its powers under Article 31(2) of the GFA Statutes, fixed Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 9 a.m as the date and time for the 26th Ordinary Session of congress.

The ExCo had earlier fixed August 27 for the congress before the date was changed to September 1.

“I don’t think it is an appropriate day. Article 31 clause 3 of the statutes provides an after ten days notice and from August 27 to September

1, there seems to be a rush, so why the rush, why cant it be after September1, we can hold it on September 2,3 or 4,” he said.

Mr Ntow-Fiako said the ordinary congress was to make amendments to sections of the FA statutes and if not diligently done, with members having divided attention, it would not augur well for the FA and football development in Ghana.

He called on the FA to reconsider their position and take one that would make Ghana football better.
