ITTF donates ping-pong equipment to Ekis Montessori

Speaking at the event, Mr Solomon Akonor, the Greater Accra table tennis chairman, expressed the need to introduce the sport to children at a very early stage to improve their health and even exercise and develop their intellect.
“Table tennis as a game serve a lot of benefits to both old and most especially the younger,” he added.

  In an interview with Graphic Sports after receiving items, the Proprietor of the school, Mr Elvis Kwasi Ofori Boateng, demonstrated his gratitude to the ITTF Foundation the support of the sports and his willingness to put to good the items he has been given. “The equipment received today will serve both the school and the community and is my fervent hope that in the near future due the energy kept in the sports we will be able to produce national champion from here,” he said. He also added that holistic development of students should not be solely academics but extracurricular activities are also paramount.    

The event which was climax with fervid contest between Ekis school, Sacred Heart Anglican Basic School, and Amasaman Basic School saw the Richard Ameyaw of Ekis School as the winner of the day.  

The items presented include two sets of ball, six professional rackets, and fifteen set of jerseys.
