Yusif Alhassan Chibsah urges Kotoko board to ensure good structures

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Yusif Alhassan Chibsah, has admonished the new board of the club to be guided by the need to build formidable structures, realistic policies and a comprehensive plan to ensure success.

He was certain that the nine-member board could change the fortunes of the club and restore it to its glorious past.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports last Friday, Chibsah said the board was not only chosen on merit but also the owner of the club did comprehensive background checks on the members and appointed them based on their enormous love for the club.

“The new board is capable of doing a good job because they have what it takes to deliver. The board was formed from Manhyia [Palace] and I’m certain the palace did due diligence to come out with this board so they should work towards the task given to them.

“The task given to them is in the right direction. The most important thing is for the board to have good structures. There must be formidable structures and good policies to guide their activities and if they adhere to such plans, it will help them to progress,” he the football agent who played for Kotoko from 2003–2006.

Chibsah said if the new board would be different from previous board members, they should work towards the mandate given them by the owner of the club so that their three-year tenure would be a success.

Dr Kwame Kyei retained his position as the Board chairman after his three-year mandate ended on December 2019. Other members of the new Kotoko board are Messrs Jude Arthur (vice-chairman), Kwadwo Boateng Genfi, Kwasi Osei Ofori, Alhaji Lamin, Kwamina Mensah, Joseph Yaw Adu, Baffour Kwame Kusi, Otumfuo’s Ankobiahene, and Mrs Evelyn Nsiah-Asare, head of sports of Sunyani Technical University.

The new Board of Directors have been tasked to rebuild the Kotoko brand, not only in terms of performance on the field of play but also as a viable economic entity, according to a statement from the Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff, Mr Kofi Badu.
