Age-old rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, will come face-to-face for the second time in a week after the Phobians were beaten 2-0 in the first leg of the Super 2 Cup played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi last Sunday.
The two matches, which were organised by the leadership of the two most-celebrated Premier League clubs in the country, is to prepare them towards next season’s First Capital Premier League and also raise funds.
Though a friendly encounter, the 0-2 loss to Kotoko last Sunday has raised the stakes, with Hearts followers seeking their pound of flesh, coupled with the optimism by Hearts coach Herbert Addo to redeem their image tomorrow.
Coach Addo declared in a post-match interview last Monday that Hearts would give Kotoko a run for their money tomorrow. And judging from the refreshing news in Hearts’ camp, including the unveiling of eight new signings namely: Leonard Tawiah, Foovi Aguidi, Isaac Oduro, Richard Yamoah, Kwame Kizito and Vincent Atinga, among others, Hearts could be dangerous at the Accra Stadium.
However, Kotoko, on the other hand, are said to be in high spirits, especially where they have the upperhand and have also vowed to repeat the dose over Hearts in their own backyard tomorrow.
As a result, the Kotoko lads are not taking any chances to maintain the bragging rights ahead of the league.
Coach Mas-Ud Dramani is, therefore, expected to count on the exploits of Ahmed Toure, Michael Akuffo, Jordan Opoku, Dauda Mohammed and Abeiku Ainooson and their colleagues to deliver another victory in Accra.
