Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah says his charges will take an all attacking posture when the Black Stars play Egypt in the final World Cup qualifier in Cairo on Tuesday.
Appiah could make history as the first local coach to qualify the Black Stars to the World Cup with only a draw in Cairo, but the former national captain is committed to ending the campaign with a remarkable result.
He said “I have made the players aware that once we are on the Egyptian pitch, it is important to redeem a goal or two and for that reason we plan to play all out.
“We consider the results in the first leg as though it was only a first half and the second leg here on Tuesday for us is the second half and we will not take anything for granted.”
While Appiah admits to selection headache as a result of the competition in camp, he is quick to flaunt the qualities of his players.
“The players are all fully prepared now and it does not matter who starts. There is a lot of competition among the players which is a sign of a good team. Every player looks eager to do well and whoever wears the jersey will be capable of pushing our course.”
The Black Stars are billed to train just once on Monday evening ahead of Tuesday’s game scheduled for the 30,000 plus Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
Ghana is gunning for a third successive World Cup appearance following previous attendance in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.
The Stars who remain Africa’s best performers in recent editions of the World Cup lead the first tie from Kumasi 6-1.
The seven times African champions are required to score five unanswered goals to kill the Black Stars’ dream of answering the roll call in Brazil.
Egypt is attempting an appearance at the Mundial after over two decades of absence.
