Striker Ahmed Toure is hopeful that his goal against Heart of Lions last Wednesday will secure him a permanent deal with Accra hearts of Oak.
The Ivorian player, who is currently on trials with the Phobians, scored the only goal as Hearts beat Lions 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in a second leg GHALCA Top 4 encounter.
Toure had his first training session with the Phobians last Monday at the ATTC training grounds and came in as a substitute in last Wednesday’s game.
His match-winning goal was a welcome relief to coach Herbert Addo, who had earlier complained after his side’s loss to Lions last Saturday that his team lacked quality goal poachers.
In a post-match interview, 27-year-old Toure said he had not been offered a contract yet but was hopeful of convincing the club’s management to sign him on.
“Before the start of the game, I was praying that our coach will give me the opportunity to play in the last 20 or 30 minutes and then score a goal. It was a wonderful game, both teams played well,” he said.
“I can’t talk about my future with Hearts because even though I am training with them, no offer has been made but I will continue to do my best. I am very happy that my goal has made the management and supporters happy”.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward also disclosed that he had enjoyed his short stay with the Phobians, adding that he had mutual respect for all his teammates.
