Over 500 security personnel would be deployed tomorrow to provide safety when Ghana clash with Zambia in the 2014 Group D World Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium .
Saka Acquaye, Ashanti Regional Director of Sports, told GNA Sports that the personnel were drawn from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Army to provide security before, during and after the game.
He said some 80 fire-fighters backed by fire engines, as well as a medical team from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), had also been marshalled for the game in which Ghana needs at least a draw to book a place at the next round of the qualifiers.
The regional director said adequate measures had been made to ensure safety for the fans expected to fill the 42,000-plus capacity arena.
Acquaye said arrangements had also been made for uninterrupted power supply with stand-by generators in the event of a power failure, in last year’s , embarrassing blackout that almost marred the Ghana-Lesotho World Cup qualifier.
The stadium was engulfed in darkness for almost 45 minutes as the floodlights failed to light up due to a technical hitch.
